Don Lemon Calls Out Melania Trump: ‘She Was A Birther, Too’

Rebecca Shapiro

CNN’s Don Lemon gave first lady Melania Trump credit for defending NBA star LeBron James after President Donald Trump attacked James and Lemon on Twitter, but he also warned viewers that they shouldn’t read too much into her message.

“We also have to remember that she was a birther, too,” Lemon said, referencing the racist questioning of former President Barack Obama’s U.S. citizenship. Trump built his political career by peddling the debunked conspiracy theory.

The current first lady indeed defended her husband’s birtherism during an interview with Joy Behar in 2011. “It’s not only Donald who wants to see it,” she said, referring to Obama’s birth certificate. “It’s American people who voted for him and who didn’t vote for him. They want to see that.” She added that the birth certificate that Obama did release was “not a birth certificate.”

The president lashed out Friday night after Lemon interviewed James about the NBA star’s work opening a new public school for at-risk youth. During the interview, James said Trump uses sports “to divide us” and that the president enables racists.

Trump soon responded by insulting both men’s intelligence in a tweet Lemon called “disgusting.”

“I do believe that this president is a racist and I don’t say that lightly,” Lemon said in light of Trump’s tweet. “What he is playing on with me and LeBron James is an old racist trope about black and African-Americans and people of color being of inferior intelligence.”

Soon after Trump sent his message, the first lady released a statement through her spokesperson in which she broke with the president and praised James for his philanthropic work.

Lemon interviewed James about the I Promise School, which the NBA player opened in partnership with his foundation and Akron Public Schools in Ohio. The school, which opened to 240 third- and fourth-graders last week, has an unusual approach, focusing on emotional well-being for both students and their families.

Jeanette Finicum Widow of slain Oregon standoff leader carries on his mission

Leaders of an armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge in rural Oregon were driving to a public meeting  when police shot and killed one of them at a roadblock.

“The people within counties and states should decide how to use those properties, not the federal government.”

LaVoy Finicum was the spokesman for several dozen occupiers during the 41-day takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and has become a martyr for the movement to transfer ownership of federal lands to local entities. The U.S. government owns nearly half of all land in the West, compared with 4 percent in other states, according to the Congressional Overview of Federal Land Ownership.

Finicum’s cattle brand, an L connected to a V with a floating bar, adorns bumper stickers, black flags and T-shirts seen at conservative gatherings.

Jeanette Finicum has become something of a cause celebre in the year since her husband’s death. She spoke at a rally on the steps of Utah’s capitol. The Tri-State Livestock News, based in South Dakota, recently ran a story describing her dispute with the Bureau of Land Management over grazing fees. The agency administers 245 million acres of public lands and manages livestock grazing on 155 million acres of those lands.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy met with birther movement activists in his office in 2013

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy met with birther movement activists in his office in 2013

  • As has been his position from the start, McCarthy has never agreed with claims challenging President Obama’s birth certificate,” said McCarthy’s communications director.

(CNN)House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy hosted members of the birther movement in his office for a meeting in 2013, where he was shown a video alleging then-President Barack Obama had forged documents related to his citizenship, activists at that meeting tell CNN.

Three birther activists — Mike Volin, Jeff Harrison, and Tom Pavich — traveled to Washington, DC, in late 2013 to present congressional offices with what they claimed was evidence that Obama is not a citizen and was ineligible to be president.

The activists documented the trip on Volin’s website,, where they posted pictures of themselves outside the congressional offices of both Democrats and Republicans.

One of the photos shows Harrison and Pavich with McCarthy, who at the time was the majority whip in the House. Another image shows a printed photo of the two activists and McCarthy that contained the message “it was good to visit with you in DC.” The image appeared to be signed by McCarthy.

McCarthy is the only congressman pictured on the DC presentations page of the website. Other photos on the website show the activists meeting with staff from other offices. CNN’s KFile came upon the photos in the course of researching the birther movement for a separate story.

Pavich lives in McCarthy’s district in California and said he has met with the congressman several times over the years and has raised the birther issue with him before 2013.

In a statement to CNN, McCarthy’s communications director Matt Sparks said, “McCarthy welcomes meeting and listening to his constituents, whether he agrees with their position or not. As has been his position from the start, McCarthy has never agreed with claims challenging President Obama’s birth certificate.”

From the time Obama was a candidate in the 2008 presidential race and throughout his presidency, activists on the far right made attempts to prove he was not a natural-born citizen and thus ineligible to be president. One of the leading voices casting doubt on Obama’s citizenship was Donald Trump, who repeatedly called into question the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate.

There is no credible evidence that Obama, who was born in Hawaii in 1961, is not a natural-born citizen. In 2011, Obama released his long-form birth certificate, showing he was, in fact, born in the US.

The meeting between McCarthy and the birther activists occurred more than two years after Obama released his long-form birth certificate.

The two activists who attended the meeting, Harrison and Pavich, told CNN’s KFile in separate phone interviews that it lasted at least 30 minutes and possibly as long as an hour and said it took place in McCarthy’s office in the Capitol building.

Pavich told CNN that he had asked for the DC meeting in advance and that the activists were upfront about the reason for requesting the meeting. He said he brought up Obama’s Selective Service card at the meeting and showed McCarthy a video that made the case against Obama’s citizenship.

“I played to him the sections (of the video) showing the forged Selective Service card and the question about the postal stamp, how the postal stamp was forged, and congressman McCarthy’s jaw dropped. He just couldn’t believe that he hadn’t heard of that and he thanked me for bringing that to his attention and he told me he would look into it,” Pavich said.

“He told me specifically that he was going to request a copy of his own Selective Service application that was on record with the State Department, because he was curious, very curious about this,” Pavich added. Pavich said he met with McCarthy again in 2015 in DC and McCarthy said he had not yet gotten a copy of his Selective Service records.

McCarthy’s communications director did not comment on the activists’ recollection of the meeting.

The video Pavich presented McCarthy was called “The Sheriff’s Kit,” a presentation inspired by former Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s investigation into Obama’s birth certificate. Arpaio, who is running for Senate in Arizona, recently doubled-down on his claims that Obama’s birth certificate is fake in an interview with CNN.

Inspector General’s Report Stunning – production of 1.2 million documents related to the 2016 Election and H

Inspector General’s Report Stunning – production of 1.2 million documents related to the 2016 Election and Hillary Clinton:

On January 7th and 8th, I had the privilege of being the sole guest on two radio broadcasts; “We the People Radio” from northern California then WOBC – with Mike Volin out of Pennsylvania.  I mentioned during each program a little known fact that was about to become well known reality…namely, soon after assuming the Office of President, Mr. Trump authorized the Inspector General, Michael E. Horowitz, to begin a thorough and complete without obstructions investigation into the 2016 Election!  To seek-out and identify any collusion by and between the Clinton Campaign, the FBI, the DOJ, the Russian government or any other government, and any individual or entity.  Release of any and all findings shall be determined at the sole determination of the Inspector General.  An informal statement by the Inspector General’s Office stated a full and complete release of facts and findings would be on Monday, January 15th, 2018, and this I shared to the surprise and delight of hosts on both mentioned radio broadcasts.  The release of all facts and findings would be directly from Inspector General Horowitz to the Department of Justice and simultaneously to the Chairman of the U. S. House and Senate Committees on the Judiciary, House Chairman Bob Goodlatte and Senate Chairman Chuck Grassley.  The American People would then become aware of the findings.

Last evening, Friday, January 12th, 2018, approximately 6pm Washington, DC time the Inspector General provided 1.2 million documents obtained in his yearlong investigation.  Said evidentiary documents have now been formally given to the Chairman of the U.S. House and Senate Committees on the Judiciary.  This monumental and absolutely surprising act will open the vail of secrecy concealing a number of highly alleged sordid facts and dealings suggesting even Treason to the United States.  As example of my last comment; earlier on Friday, January 12th, the former President of a Maryland-based Transportation Company was indicted on 11-Counts related to Foreign Bribery, Fraud, and Money Laundering.  This indictment is the beginning of the complex case related to “Uranium-1”, the giveaway to Russia of enriched, nuclear weapons grade uranium by Hillary Clinton during her tenure as Secretary of State allegedly in exchange for a huge pay-out that went to the Clinton Foundation, and then surreptitiously into other accounts, but all benefitting the Clintons.  Beyond this case there is evidence that classified information was leaked by members of the Obama Administration with the trail leading all the way up to the Oval Office, and including, but not limited to: the former Director of the FBI, Mr. Comey; former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch; again the Clinton’s; additional senior level management of the FBI and Department of Justice, and even the leadership of the Democrat National Committee. Review this sobering letter from the U.S. House of Representatives: .

The 1980’s was a time referred to as the “Era of the Reagan Revolution.”  Ronald Reagan came into the White House and immediately set about to restore America’s standing in the world as a strong and dependable ally to those countries choosing peace, and a force to be reckoned with to those countries choosing to enslave, destroy and bring war.  Domestically, President Reagan set about to return traditional values to our Nation; values and principles enshrined in our Founding Documents written by our Founding Fathers.  Not since then have we had such an advocate.  The after Reagan decay in leadership has reached such a height that Obama led an openly spiritual, cultural and political revolution against American values across the board; his hatred for all things America was palpable.  Under his almost unchecked authority government would become a vicious instrument turned against the people of America, and the belief in God which once led America to say: “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12).  Government is the problem, as President Reagan use to say.  Unfortunately there are many who lost the meaning to the time-honored position of being a “servant-leader.”  Service above self is barely honored among many in public office, and among a large contingency spread-out through high offices of authority and incredible power within the last administration it appears, and may soon become more clear, that sinister forces were very much part of the agenda among individuals, as well as this Nation’s government itself.  I pray Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz’s investigation and deliverables will now begin to cleanse the deep and infected wound that still is oozing vile political contamination from those who have strong motives to keep the wound from being cleaned, and then healed and restored to health.  I pray the Chairman of the two Congressional Committees on the Judiciary bring steady hands and a sharp scalpel to cut away the disease and damage infecting our country by ill-meaning and self-serving people who abused the public’s trust and good will.

(Jan. 1, 2018) — An article in The Washington Examiner dated December 24, 2017 reported that Rep. Charles Dent (R-PA15), who is not seeking re-election next fall, attributes his decision in part to the election of President Donald Trump.

In a tweet dated December 18, 2017, former White House national security adviser Sebastian Gorka called Dent a “RINO,” known to stand for “Republican In Name Only,” after Dent opined that Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) should have received “a bit more due process” in the wake of numerous allegations of sexual harassment by women who worked with him prior to his entry into politics in 2008.

On the same date, PJ Media reported Dent’s full statement about Franken’s declared resignation resulting from the allegations in which Dent reasoned that other members of Congress accused of sexual harassment or misconduct were correct to resign because the allegations arose from their service while in that body.  Because the accusations dated to before Franken’s election, Dent said, “The Franken case is more complex. I think he should have been afforded a bit more due process than he was. Having said that, with these cases, and in his case, when I first heard the initial allegation, I said that was before he was a member of the Senate, but then other allegations came out. I’m hesitant to say too much. I don’t know what else there is. But I think he probably should have been afforded a bit more due process than he was.”

Dent was elected to Congress in 2004 and opined in a December 24 interview with ABC News’s “This Week” that after having “run for office 13 times,” he decided to retire because he wanted to maintain his “perfect record,” that he is “young enough and healthy to do something else,” and that the Trump administration “is taking the fun out of dysfunction.”

At the same time, “This Week” interviewed Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, who, like Dent, is not seeking re-election and opposes Trump’s style and agenda vociferously.

Early in 2011, Trump publicly questioned Barack Hussein Obama’s constitutional eligibility for the presidency and demanded that he release his “long-form,” or more detailed, birth certificate demonstrating that he was born in Hawaii, or more generally, in the United States.  Birth in the country is considered the minimum standard by many Americans as meeting the Founders’ stipulation contained in Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the Constitution that the president be a “natural born Citizen.”

Others disagree, claiming that a presidential candidate’s parents must possess U.S. citizenship at the time of his birth and that the birth have taken place on U.S. soil.

When Trump made appearances on “The View” and “The O’Reilly Factor,” among other shows, calling for the White House to release Obama’s original birth record, he was met with ridicule and ordained by the press as the “leader” of “the birthers,” a term assigned by the media to individuals questioning Obama’s birth and life narrative as a result of previous credible reports citing his birthplace as Kenya or Indonesia, not Hawaii, as Obama claims.

After mounting pressure from Trump and perhaps inadvertently by Obama’s longtime friend, Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, on April 27, 2011, the White House released what it said was a scan of a certified copy of Obama’s long-form birth certificate allegedly released by the Hawaii Department of Health (HDOH).

The mainstream media widely reported on the release and press conference Obama gave directly afterward in which he claimed that “carnival barkers” were creating a “distraction” over the questions to which tens of thousands of Americans were desirous of an answer:  “Where was Obama born?” and “Is he a ‘natural born Citizen?’”

In addition to inconsistent reports of Obama’s birthplace dating back to at least 2004, his claimed father, Barack Hussein Obama of Kenya, was never a U.S. citizen.  Just prior to the 2008 presidential election, Atty. Leo Donofrio petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court for a Writ of Certiorari alleging that Obama was ineligible for the presidency based on that factor alone.

Dent was one of a significant number of congressmen who in 2013 and 2014 received a “Sheriff’s Kit,” a DVD produced by Michael Volin of (WOBC) and founder of the radio show by the same name.  The DVD contained a presentation given by investigator Mike Zullo, who conducted a criminal investigation into the birth certificate image and found it to be a “computer-generated forgery” as divulged in a press conference on March 1, 2012.

The probe, launched in August 2011, officially concluded in December 2016, although Zullo has provided interviews in recent weeks about his investigational findings on radio shows, to Dr. Jerome Corsi of Infowars and this publication.

In September 2013, Volin and CDR Charles F. Kerchner, Jr. (Ret) visited Dent’s district office to present the DVD and, in an unprecedented development, conferenced in Zullo by telephone to reveal exclusive evidence.

Dent is Kerchner’s congressman.

Volin, pictured on the left in the photo along with Dent and Kerchner, conceived of the effort to distribute as many Sheriff’s Kits as possible to members of Congress, for which he and others made several trips to Washington, DC at their own expense.  Later, with Kerchner largely funding the project, Volin and a small number of volunteers mailed kits to every county sheriff, attorney general, and governor in the country.

In 2008, Kerchner wrote Dent the first of what would be several letters in which he expressed his concerns about Obama’s eligibility.  Kerchner later urged Dent to support then-Rep. Steve Stockman’s proposal to launch a congressional investigation into Obama’s long-form and short-form birth certificates; his Selective Service registration form, also found fraudulent by Zullo’s investigation; and Obama’s apparent use of a Social Security number whose prefix indicated that it had been issued to someone born or then residing in the state of Connecticut.

At the time, Kerchner told Dent, in part, “There is no greater national security threat to our nation and Constitutional Republic than having a person in the office of the Presidency and Commander in Chief of our military who is of unknown true legal identity who is engaging in crimes to cover up his true legal identity by proffering forged and stolen ID docs.”

Kerchner said he received no response to multiple letters sent to Dent on the issue until after the first of four white papers published by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) was released in April 2009 containing apparent talking points for congressmen to provide to their constituents.  At that point, Kerchner recalled, Dent sent him “the canned boiler plate type of response because the CRS memo told all the elected people the canned response to give.”

In a recent email exchange, Kerchner recalled that Dent was named in his 2009 lawsuitKerchner, et al v. Obama & Congress, et al, challenging Obama’s constitutional eligibility, on which Kerchner was represented by Atty. Mario Apuzzo.

In an email on December 26, 2017, Volin told The Post & Email that the fourth man in Dent’s office during the September 2013 visit was Dale Laudenslager, who Volin said also accompanied him to the office of his own congressman, Lou Barletta, to deliver a Sheriff’s Kit.

For a December 28, 2013 summary of the meeting with Dent in which Zullo participated by telephone, Volin told us:

He asked question after question.  It was all talking points.  “Why didn’t John McCain do anything about this?”  I said, “Excuse me, congressman, but this information wasn’t available when McCain was running.”  “Why didn’t Gov. Linda Lingle do anything?”  “Well, she did, but her health department director, Chiyome Fukino, said that it was “half-typed and half-handwritten.” The next governor, Neil Abercrombie, said he couldn’t even find it.   And the congressman just kept coming back with that.

Two months later, Volin and a team of volunteers called on Dent in his Washington, DC office.  Afterward, Volin related that Dent’s chief of staff first put them off, then allowed him to give a 7-10-minute overview of Zullo’s presentation on the birth certificate forgery findings.  Volin quoted Dent’s chief of staff as then having said, “So what’s the problem? He thinks he’s an American.”

Volin reported that the chief of staff “just stood up then and said, ‘He has the final word; it’s over; that’s it. That’s his decision.’”

At the time, Volin’s final thoughts on that statement were:

Don’t forget:  we had Mike Zullo on the telephone [in September]. For 45 minutes, the congressman asked him questions, and Mike Zullo gave him information that nobody has heard before.  It should have opened his eyes.

It took five weeks of almost everyday phone calls to get an answer from him, and this is what we got.
