\"\"(Jan. 1, 2018) \u2014 An article in The Washington Examiner dated December 24, 2017\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0Rep. Charles Dent<\/a>\u00a0(R-PA15), who is not seeking re-election next fall, attributes his decision in part to the election of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

In a tweet dated December 18, 2017, former White House national security adviser Sebastian Gorka\u00a0called<\/a>\u00a0Dent a \u201cRINO,\u201d known to stand for \u201cRepublican In Name Only,\u201d after Dent opined that\u00a0Sen. Al Franken<\/a>\u00a0(D-MN) should have received \u201ca bit more due process\u201d in the wake of numerous allegations of sexual harassment by women who worked with him prior to his entry into politics in 2008.<\/p>\n

On the same date, PJ Media\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0Dent\u2019s full statement about Franken\u2019s declared resignation resulting from the allegations in which Dent reasoned that other members of Congress accused of sexual harassment or misconduct were correct to resign because the allegations arose from their service while in that body.\u00a0 Because the accusations dated to before Franken\u2019s election, Dent said, \u201cThe Franken case is more complex. I think he should have been afforded a bit more due process than he was. Having said that, with these cases, and in his case, when I first heard the initial allegation, I said that was before he was a member of the Senate, but then other allegations came out. I\u2019m hesitant to say too much. I don\u2019t know what else there is. But I think he probably should have been afforded a bit more due process than he was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dent was\u00a0elected<\/a>\u00a0to Congress in 2004 and opined in a December 24 interview with ABC News\u2019s \u201cThis Week\u201d that after having \u201crun for office 13 times,\u201d he decided to retire because he wanted to maintain his \u201cperfect record,<\/a>\u201d that he is \u201cyoung enough and healthy to do something else,\u201d and that the Trump administration \u201cis taking the fun out of dysfunction.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the same time, \u201cThis Week\u201d\u00a0interviewed<\/a>\u00a0Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, who, like Dent, is not seeking re-election and opposes Trump\u2019s style and agenda vociferously.<\/p>\n

Early in 2011, Trump publicly\u00a0questioned<\/a>\u00a0Barack Hussein Obama\u2019s constitutional eligibility for the presidency and demanded that he release his \u201clong-form,\u201d or more detailed, birth certificate demonstrating that he was born in Hawaii, or more generally, in the United States.\u00a0 Birth in the country is considered the minimum standard by many Americans as meeting the Founders\u2019 stipulation contained in\u00a0Article II, Section 1, clause 5<\/a>\u00a0of the Constitution that the president be a \u201cnatural born Citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others disagree, claiming that a presidential candidate\u2019s parents must possess U.S. citizenship at the time of his birth and that the birth have taken place on U.S. soil.<\/p>\n

When Trump made appearances on \u201cThe View<\/a>\u201d and \u201cThe O\u2019Reilly Factor<\/a>,\u201d among other shows, calling for the White House to release Obama\u2019s original birth record, he was met with ridicule and ordained by the press as the \u201cleader<\/a>\u201d of \u201cthe\u00a0birthers<\/a>,\u201d a term assigned by the media to individuals questioning Obama\u2019s birth and life narrative as a result of previous credible reports citing his birthplace as Kenya or Indonesia, not Hawaii, as Obama claims.<\/p>\n

After mounting pressure from Trump and perhaps inadvertently by Obama\u2019s\u00a0longtime friend<\/a>, Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, on April 27, 2011, the White House released what it said was a\u00a0scan<\/a>\u00a0of a certified copy of Obama\u2019s long-form birth certificate allegedly released by the Hawaii Department of Health (HDOH<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The mainstream media widely reported on the release and press conference Obama gave directly afterward in which he claimed that \u201ccarnival barkers<\/a>\u201d were creating a \u201cdistraction\u201d over the questions to which tens of thousands of Americans were desirous of an answer:\u00a0 \u201cWhere was Obama born?\u201d and \u201cIs he a \u2018natural born Citizen?’\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to inconsistent reports of Obama\u2019s birthplace dating back to at least 2004, his claimed father, Barack Hussein Obama of Kenya, was never a U.S. citizen.\u00a0 Just prior to the 2008 presidential election,\u00a0Atty. Leo Donofrio<\/a>\u00a0petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court for a Writ of Certiorari alleging that Obama was ineligible for the presidency based on that\u00a0factor<\/a>\u00a0alone.<\/p>\n

Dent was one of a significant number of congressmen who in 2013 and 2014 received a \u201cSheriff\u2019s Kit,\u201d a DVD produced by Michael Volin of WheresObamasBirthCertificate.com (WOBC<\/a>) and founder of the radio show by the same name.\u00a0 The DVD contained a presentation given by investigator Mike Zullo, who conducted a criminal investigation into the birth certificate image and found it to be a \u201ccomputer-generated forgery\u201d as divulged in a\u00a0press conference<\/a>\u00a0on March 1, 2012.<\/p>\n

The probe, launched in August 2011, officially concluded in December 2016, although Zullo has provided interviews in recent weeks about his investigational findings on radio shows, to\u00a0Dr. Jerome Corsi<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Infowars<\/a>\u00a0and this publication.<\/p>\n

\"\"In September 2013, Volin and CDR Charles F. Kerchner, Jr. (Ret)\u00a0visited<\/a>\u00a0Dent\u2019s district office to present the DVD and, in an unprecedented development, conferenced in Zullo by telephone to reveal exclusive evidence.<\/p>\n

Dent is Kerchner\u2019s congressman.<\/p>\n

Volin, pictured on the left in the photo along with Dent and Kerchner, conceived of the effort to distribute as many Sheriff\u2019s Kits as possible to members of Congress, for which he and others made several trips to Washington, DC at their own expense.\u00a0 Later, with Kerchner largely funding the project, Volin and a small number of volunteers mailed kits to every county sheriff, attorney general, and governor in the country.<\/p>\n

In 2008, Kerchner wrote Dent the\u00a0first<\/a>\u00a0of what would be several\u00a0letters<\/a>\u00a0in which he expressed his concerns about Obama\u2019s eligibility.\u00a0 Kerchner later urged Dent to support then-Rep. Steve Stockman\u2019s proposal to launch a congressional investigation into Obama\u2019s long-form and short-form birth certificates; his Selective Service registration form, also found fraudulent by Zullo\u2019s investigation; and Obama\u2019s apparent use of a Social Security number whose prefix indicated that it had been issued to someone born or then residing in the state of Connecticut.<\/p>\n

At the time, Kerchner told Dent, in part, \u201cThere is no greater national security threat to our nation and Constitutional\u00a0<\/span>Republic than having a person in the office of the Presidency and Commander in\u00a0<\/span>Chief of our military who is of unknown true legal identity who is engaging in\u00a0<\/span>crimes to cover up his true legal identity by proffering forged and stolen ID docs<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerchner said he received no response to multiple letters sent to Dent on the issue until after the first of four white papers published by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) was released in\u00a0April 2009<\/a>\u00a0containing apparent talking points for congressmen to provide to their constituents.\u00a0 At that point, Kerchner recalled, Dent sent him \u201cthe canned boiler plate type of response because the CRS memo told all the elected people the canned response to give.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a recent email exchange, Kerchner recalled that Dent was named in his 2009\u00a0lawsuit<\/a>,\u00a0Kerchner, et al v. Obama & Congress, et al<\/em>, challenging Obama\u2019s constitutional eligibility, on which Kerchner was represented by\u00a0Atty. Mario Apuzzo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an email on December 26, 2017, Volin told The Post & Email that the fourth man in Dent\u2019s office during the September 2013 visit was Dale Laudenslager, who Volin said also accompanied him to the office of his own congressman,\u00a0Lou Barletta<\/a>, to deliver a Sheriff\u2019s Kit.<\/p>\n

For a December 28, 2013 summary of the meeting with Dent in which Zullo participated by telephone, Volin\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0us:<\/p>\n

He asked question after question.\u00a0 It was all talking points.\u00a0 \u201cWhy didn\u2019t John McCain do anything about this?\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cExcuse me, congressman, but this information wasn\u2019t available when McCain was running.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWhy didn\u2019t Gov.\u00a0Linda Lingle<\/a>\u00a0do anything?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWell, she did, but her health department director, Chiyome Fukino, said that it was \u201chalf-typed<\/a>\u00a0and half-handwritten.\u201d The next governor,\u00a0Neil Abercrombie<\/a>, said he couldn\u2019t even find it.\u00a0\u00a0 And the congressman just kept coming back with that.<\/p>\n

Two months later, Volin and a team of volunteers called on Dent in his Washington, DC office.\u00a0 Afterward, Volin related that Dent\u2019s chief of staff first put them off, then allowed him to give a 7-10-minute overview of Zullo\u2019s presentation on the birth certificate forgery findings.\u00a0 Volin quoted Dent\u2019s chief of staff as then having said, \u201cSo what\u2019s the problem? He thinks he\u2019s an American.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volin reported that the chief of staff \u201cjust stood up then and said, \u2018He has the final word; it\u2019s over; that\u2019s it. That\u2019s his decision.’\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, Volin\u2019s final thoughts on that statement were:<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget:\u00a0 we had Mike Zullo on the telephone [in September]. For 45 minutes, the congressman asked him questions, and Mike Zullo gave him information that nobody has heard before.\u00a0 It should have opened his eyes.<\/p>\n

It took five weeks of almost everyday phone calls to get an answer from him, and this is what we got.<\/p>\n
